I take the subway to work each day and often pass the time scrolling through Instagram. Sometimes, as my train moves between stations, images only partially load in.
When this happens, I see abstract colorfields instead of the expected focused images of people, places, food, flowers... Downsampled images that are somehow still recognizable. Each blurry image holds both presence and absence at the same time.
Passing Time is an ongoing personal project. I have collected upwards of 200 images since February 2018.
